SubstrateSource Hygrophila pinnatifida Pot SubstrateSource Hygrophila pinnatifida is a richly colored stem plant that provides high contrast against the green hues and smooth lines of the more common aquarium plants. H. pinnatifida is versatile and can be used as a tall, background plant, or trimmed down so that it runs along substrate or driftwood with side shoots. Like most other Hygrophila species, pinnatifida can be highly sensitive to aquarium chemicals, or sudden changes in temperature, lighting, or water chemistry.
We like to use this plant in nearly all aquarium zones. As a background plant, allow it to grow tall and reach upward towards the light. In large aquarium, trim it down to encourage lateral growth with creeping shoots along the substrate bed or along driftwood and stones. For optimal growth, plant the individual stems into mature aquarium substrate. More experienced aquarists might try tying this plant to driftwood or other decorations.
Potted plants are grown in 2-inch slotted or mesh plastic pots. The pots are made out of recycled plastic. Potted plants are grown without soil in rockwool media. The rockwool media allows the plants to grow in a clean, soil-free environment, ready to ship. To prepare your plant for the aquarium, first gently remove the pot.
