One of our most popular freshwater aquarium plants, Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Bronze' is native to Sri Lanka. Like most Cryptocorynes from Sri Lanka, this plant does well in hard water. Accustomed to changing water conditions, Cryptocoryne wendtii can grow emersed and submersed, which is why it is often used in aquariums and terrariums.
Cryptocoryne wendtii comes in several color variations, and 'Bronze' is so named because it displays darker, brown-red colors, especially when compared to other variations. We recommend using this freshwater aquarium plant in the midground or background; however, its size and density will vary greatly depending on aquarium conditions. In low light, leaves grow taller and larger.
Cryptocoryne species are notorious for "melting," a natural process that involves the shedding of old leaves with changes to their environment. Those that have the patience to see the "melting" process through will be rewarded by Cryptocoryne wendtii's delicate, broad and textured leaves. Once established, the freshwater plant will propagate by sending runners to form dense growth.
